OpenFactory

OpenFactory

OpenFactory is a software platform for trying Linux online, building custom Linux images, testing them in cloud VMs, and managing Linux deployments from one place.

OpenFactory starts with a browser experience: launch Linux distributions without installing anything locally, then move into persistent VMs, SSH access, snapshots, downloadable ISOs, automated tests, and enterprise deployment workflows as your project grows.

What You Can Do

Product AreaWhat It Provides
Try Linux onlineBrowser-based Linux sessions across many distributions, useful for evaluation, training, and quick compatibility checks
Custom image builderNatural-language, recipe, and Git-driven Linux image creation for servers, workstations, appliances, and embedded targets
VM testingBoot images in managed VMs, inspect consoles, run assertions, capture evidence, and download build artifacts
Pro workflowsPersistent VMs, SSH access, snapshots, custom packages, and downloadable ISOs
Enterprise platformSSO, audit logs, fleet workflows, self-hosted or air-gapped deployment, ServiceNow integration, and compliance evidence
App PlatformDeploy apps from a Git repo or one-line brief, bolt on managed Postgres, object storage, custom domains, secrets, checkpoints, observability, browser IDE, and OIDC auth, then auto-test with replayable scenarios or an autonomous walker

How It Works

  1. Choose a starting point - Try an existing Linux distribution, select a recipe, or describe a custom image.
  2. Build and test - OpenFactory builds the image and verifies it in an isolated VM.
  3. Iterate - Adjust packages, users, services, scripts, desktop settings, tests, or deployment targets.
  4. Deploy - Download an ISO, keep a persistent VM, or use Enterprise deployment workflows for managed fleets.

Customer-Facing Products

Free

Free browser sessions let you evaluate Linux distributions quickly without local installs. Sessions are ephemeral and browser-only.

Pro

Pro adds persistent VMs, longer-running sessions, SSH access, snapshots, custom packages, and downloadable images for real projects.

Enterprise

Enterprise adds organization controls, SSO, audit logging, support for self-hosted or air-gapped environments, compliance workflows, and integration points for ITSM and fleet operations.

Hardware and Deployment Targets

OpenFactory is software-first today. It can build and test Linux images intended for cloud VMs, local hypervisors, workstations, servers, edge systems, and customer-owned hardware. Validated hardware bundles and appliance-style deployment support are planned for teams that want a more turnkey path.
