Getting Started

Welcome to OpenFactory. These docs cover the customer-facing OpenFactory platform: browser Linux sessions, custom Linux image builds, VM testing, downloadable artifacts, and Enterprise deployment workflows.

What You Need

  • A modern browser
  • An OpenFactory account for saved builds, API keys, MCP access, or paid features
  • A clear description of the Linux environment you want to try, build, test, or deploy

Example Workflow

You: "Build a Debian server with SSH, Docker, a deploy user, and firewall rules for SSH and HTTPS." OpenFactory: "I'll create a Debian image with SSH key authentication, Docker, UFW, and a deploy user. Ready to build?" You: "Build it and run the default tests."

OpenFactory creates the build recipe, runs the image build, boots the result in a VM, and reports the verification results. Pro and Enterprise plans can keep the VM persistent, expose SSH, create snapshots, and download images for deployment.

Next Steps

  1. Create your account
  2. Build your first image
  3. Review the recipe model
  4. Connect OpenFactory to your AI tools
