Creating an Account

OpenFactory offers multiple ways to get started. You can try browser-based Linux sessions quickly, then create an account when you want saved builds, persistent VMs, downloads, teams, API keys, or MCP access.

Authentication Options

Guest Mode

Try OpenFactory without creating an account:

1. Visit openfactory.tech 
2. Click Continue as Guest
3. Start building immediately

Guest mode is best for quick evaluation. Create an account for saved work, persistent environments, SSH, downloads, MCP, or paid features.

Google OAuth

Sign in with your Google account:

1. Click Sign in with Google
2. Select your Google account
3. Authorize OpenFactory

GitHub OAuth

Perfect for developers:

1. Click Sign in with GitHub
2. Authorize the OpenFactory application
3. Start building

GitHub sign-in is useful for developer workflows and repository-based builds where enabled.

Email/Password

Traditional credentials:

1. Click Sign up with Email
2. Enter your email and create a password
3. Verify your email address
4. Sign in

Account Settings

After signing in, you can:

• Update profile - Name and avatar
• Manage organizations - Create and join teams
• View build history - All your conversations and builds
• API keys - Generate MCP keys and supported automation credentials

Organizations

When you create an account, you’re automatically added to a personal workspace. You can also:

• Create organizations - For your company or team
• Join organizations - Accept invitations from colleagues
• Switch contexts - Work in multiple organizations

Data Migration

If your guest session is eligible for migration:

1. Sign in with Google, GitHub, or email
2. Your guest conversations are automatically migrated
3. All your builds and configurations are preserved

Troubleshooting

Can’t sign in with Google/GitHub?

• Ensure pop-ups are allowed for openfactory.tech
• Try clearing your browser cache
• Check if you’re using a VPN that might block OAuth

Email verification not received?

• Check your spam folder
• Ensure the email address is correct
• Request a new verification email
